It may have been freezing but a scantily dressed Nicola Roberts couldn't stop grinning as she helped bandmates Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh celebrate their birthdays.

And the secret behind her huge smile was perhaps the mystery man by her side, who gallantly whipped off his black woolen coat to insulate Nicola against the London cold.

The red-haired Girls Aloud singer later looked decidedly merry as she left the restaurant in Camden, carrying her incredibly high Christian Louboutin heels in her hands and walking in bare feet.

Nicola has been single since breaking up with her long-term partner businessman Carl Davies in May this year.

Last night she was joined by Nadine Coyle as they helped Sarah and Kimberley celebrate their 27th birthdays.

Bandmate Cheryl Cole was unable to join her friends as she was appearing on the live X factor show in her role as a judge.
