Don't worry it's not a sixth member of Girls Aloud... instead meet Nicola Roberts' rather bony new best buddy.

The pop babe couldn't take her eyes off this voodoo skull on a stick when a fan gave it to her.

It even had a sprig of hair the same colour as her fabulous locks weaved into a plait.

Nicola, 22, was so bowled over by her spooky soul mate she wouldn't let him leave her side as she partied at the Virgin Mobile Louder Lounge.

As she told us after her ace set with Girls Aloud at the V Festival: "When I saw the skull I knew I just had to have it. It was meant to be, as it even has my hair colour."

And she knows Mr Skull will be just magic for scaring away unwanted fellas, now she's decided to stay single for a while.

Nic joked: "This ought to ward off any bad men. Although I hope it doesn't scare me too much as well."

One test callers will have to pass is learning how to greet her pal with a polite voo-do-you-do... as he is getting pride of place in her living room.

Nicola, who split from love of her life Carl Davies last May after 18 months told us: "I'm banning men. No more fellas for me. I want to be on my own. I'm tired of all the bulls**t that comes with having a boyfriend.

"I don't want to deal with anymore cr*p. I've learned the hard way and from other people's mistakes.

"I've been in relationships since I was 16 and just want to be by myself and hang out with my girls."

Nic first got a taste for the supernatural on Ghosthunting With Girls Aloud on ITV2.

She then had her fortune told in Asia on her Passions of Girl's Aloud show where she created a sell-out make-up for women with fairer skin. And just months ago, she took a break while the band were on tour in Brighton to visit psychic Prof Mirza before splitting from Carl. A source says: "Dumping Carl is one of the biggest decisions Nicola has ever had to make.

"They were totally in love and had even moved in together, but things turned sour after a string of blazing rows."

Before Carl Davies, Nic dated childhood sweetheart Carl Egerton for five years. But she says she wants to put the drama behind her now.

The (retired) Love Machine said: "I'm determined to find out who the real Nicola is. And the only way I can do that is if I'm on my own. Since I was 16 I've been growing with other people and not alone.

"When I'm a grandma one day, I want to be able to look back and see what I've achieved, without having a fella on my arm. There's always time to settle down later."

One things for sure... her super skull will scare off any ghoul-diggers.

I'm tired of all the bulls**t that comes with a boyfriend. This should ward off bad men.
